About SAPA
Founded in 1995 during a launch conference in the Western Cape, the South African Principals’ Association (SAPA) adheres to the principles of non-alignment with any political party, organisation, or other educational bodies. This unique approach allows individuals to maintain membership in major teacher unions across South Africa while also being active SAPA members.
While SAPA serves as the national umbrella organisation, its effective operations occur at the provincial level. Each province elects its own executive committee, responsible for organizing activities such as conferences, local seminars, newsletters, and negotiations with provincial education departments on behalf of its members.
Benefits that SAPA can offer you!
The SAPA National Executive Committee convenes once per term, typically in Gauteng (either Johannesburg or Pretoria), and these gatherings often involve interactions with the National Department of Education. The President and members of the Executive Committee regularly engage in discussions with the Department of Education, notably with Mr. James Ndlebe (Director: Education Management and Governance Development), addressing a range of issues pertinent to school management.
